Clutching the book

So here we are in Gloucester with a hard copy of the Outland book that comprises of New England Gothic (by Nimue) and The Oddatsea (Keith). Just for context, Nimue was being a Drag King In Yellow at the time, hence the uncharacteristically bright suit and the beard.

We were able to get our mitts upon this book because fabulous Mark Hayes admitted to owning a copy. On discovering we’d never seen a print version of this book he very kindly brought it along, and took some photos.

New England Gothic has Annamarie Nightshade as the main character and is set before the graphic novels. It explores her early life, her complicated friendships with Reverend Davies and Durosimi, and pokes about in island witchcraft.

The Oddatsea also has Annamarie Nightshade as a character, but centres on some new folk Keith has brought to the island, one of them in a submarine. No, that doesn’t really protect you either.

These two books can be bought individually, along with other goodies over here – https://hopeless-maine.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders

The shiny Outland edition is generally available from places online that sell books. If you have one, or buy one, we love seeing photos of books in the wild.

Inheritance Manifests!

Outland Entertainment are publishing the Hopeless, Maine graphic novels in hard cover editions. Some of you lovely folk backed the kickstarter that helped made this possible. Then, sad to say, things got messy.

This wasn’t a problem specific to us, or to Outland. We know of other comics people whose comics did not reach them in a timely. Rail strikes in the US, along with paper supply and distribution problems have caused a lot of issues this year. We 100% support strike action, but it has made life complicated.

Finally, our books are getting into the hands of our splendid kickstarter backers. We’ve seen a few photos on social media already – we love it when people post photos of themselves with our books, so please do that and tag us if you have a moment to spare.

The image above was sent us by the splendid and massively supportive Brenda Nix Lively. Many thanks for that.

Inheritance covers

First and foremost, we are massively excited to share with you the new cover art for Hopeless Maine Inheritance.

This will be the cover for the new Outland edition of this book. This may be a tad confusing, so, explanations….

When we started doing Hopeless Maine graphic novels, we were published by Archaia and two volumes came out with them – Personal Demons, and Inheritance. The covers for those editions look like this…

When we were re-published by Sloth, we and the publisher took the decision to put those two initial volumes out as a single title – The Gathering – to make it easier to crack on and get the rest of the series moving. So, if you have a book that looks like the cover below, you’ve already got Inheritance and Personal Demons. And if you are the kind of completest who needs all the versions, we’re really sorry, we did not mean to do this to you.
